Adult Education

For the ADULT EDUCATION AND SKILLS TRAINING we have had a few informal workshops to teach handwork, tie dying and beadwork. As many of the adults are seasonal workers or shift workers in factories, it is difficult to build up regular, steady numbers with commitment. We also do not have sufficient hands to help with the training, and the lack of electricity makes it difficult to teach at night, when most would be available. Adult Education and training is an integral part of our long term vision but at this stage it is still in seed form.

Although we are not yet offering formal adult education, we are constantly teaching and training our untrained, unskilled staff in the areas of their interest and have managed to build up a project that is run almost exclusively by members of the community who were once unemployed or with no future other than working as underpaid labourers. It is therefore currently our main focus to develop all staff members with the aim to equip them with sufficient confidence and skill to run their individual departments without ongoing supervision.
