S u p p o r t

Over the past ten years this project has been able to grow from strength to strength thanks to the generous support from long-term and short-term sponsors as well as individuals who have made their independent contributions.

Furthermore, we have been very fortunate to have had volunteers who have given their time and love to this project.

A few years ago, two visitors from Luxemburg, Marc Hermes and Aly Zeimen, were brought to the settlement by Heidi van der Merwe. They were touched by the children and upon their return to Luxemburg, embarked on a fundraising drive to offer financial support with this project. A fundraising organisation, LUXPRO DIGNITAS, was started and with the funds the Project could move onto the next level. Buildings were acquired near the settlement and the foundations for a day care centre were laid. LUXPRO DIGNITAS has been hosting regular markets and events in Luxemburg for the past ten years and it is thanks to their generous support that Bonnie People has been able to grow into a successful project.

The Bonnie People Project has received no government funding to date and with that, LUXPRO DIGNITAS has been the financial life-line for the project. The daily running costs for the project have been funded by LUXPRO over the past ten years and much of our infrastructure and material acquisition was all thanks to their contributions.

The relationship between the Bonnie People Project and LUXPRO is not only one of sponsor and beneficiary - our sponsors visit us twice yearly and spend time with the children and staff on sight.

In the period 2004/2005, additional support from Ikamvalethu - a fundraising organisation in Holland headed by Larry Rackwitz - was acquired. This organisation focused predominantly on the development of the young children. The organisation has been assisting with funding for the past 4 years and they too have made a substantial difference to the development of the project. As their main intention was to help create a safe space for the little ones and this facility has now been established, Ikamvalethu has terminated their funding for the future and has contributed their remaining funds to the project for future use. We are very grateful for this generous gift, which will enable us to realize some of our dreams.

Since the beginning of 2008 we have been "adopted" locally by a South African company, MARLANTEAK, who make a monthly contribution to the project and form part of the local board. MARLANTEAK has featured us as their social upliftment project on their website and promote our vision both locally and internationally. It is reassuring to have established local support and gratifying to have regular personal contact through visits to the venue.
