Volunteers
A volunteer at the Bonnie People Project must love children and have a lot of patience.
Teaching and basic childcare are needed and also skills like cooking,gardening, woodwork and crafts.
As a volunteer you must be:
* not younger than 18 years ( Retired people very welcome!)
* able to speak English and be willing to learn some Afrikaans
* able to work independently with minimum supervision
* do not mind getting hugs from children that has not been bathed for a few days
* be in a good physical condition
* preferably have a drivers licence
Project basically runs from Mondays to Fridays 08h00 - 15h00, but sometimes
extra programmes are arranged on weekends. Volunteers are free on weekends
and on request.
Minimum stay are three weeks.
Cost: R 4500.00 per month (2010)
The fee includes:
* airport pick-up. Project is 200 km from Cape Town
* accommodation and meals at Merwenstein Guestfarm. Farm is 8 km from the Project.
* washing and ironing of clothes
* use of internet facilities
If you stay longer than one month the fee also includes a tour of Cape Town,
visits to neighbouring towns Robertson, Montagu and Swellendam.
Own costs you will have to meet:
* flights to South Africa
* personal insurance - also medical insurance
* medical costs
* personal spending money
